Welcome to Diwali Mela 2023. The very first Diwali Mela in Southampton .
Diwali, the festival of lights, is the most popular Indian festival and is celebrated by Jains and Sikhs as well as Hindus. The word Diwali comes from the Sanskrit word Deepavali, meaning rows of lighted lamps.

The day is packed with many exciting activities to make it a fun filled day for the whole family to enjoy.
12 pm - Rangoli Making Competition. More details on how to enter for the competition will follow soon.
12 pm - 6pm: A family event with number of food stalls serving popular Indian snacks; stalls to pre order Authentic homemade Diwali Mithai; Diwali Bazaar hosting non-food stalls consist of traditional Indian dresses, Handicrafts, Henna, Spiritual stalls and display of a number of Indian small entrepreneurs. The cultural programs include LIVE Bollywood songs by our celebrity Ravi Kumar and dances.
4pm - 6:15pm: Ramleela, the traditional performance of the Ramayana, followed by a traditional and colourful Fashion Show . First show of Ramleela will start at 4pm and second show will start at 5:30pm sharp! The link to register for these performances is:

The preparations for Diwali Mela is on full swing.
Ramleela - Casting is complete and we just recently did our first reading session with all our participants.
Fashion Show - The show is divided into different segments. Casting is complete for this as well and we have started working with our 'Maharanis' section first.
Diwali Bazaar - We currently have 25 vendors from around South getting ready to bring their tastefull collection of clothing ,jewellery, home decor and other items to the Mela.
